Weber Shandwick VP Elected Chairman of the PRCA in Scotland

8 April 2011 - Lesley Clark, Vice-President International Client Services at Weber Shandwick, has been elected chairman of the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) Scotland division.

The PRCA Scotland group brings together PR practitioners across the country, from both consultancies and in-house teams, to hear from interesting speakers, share best practice, and promote standards in PR. The Scotland group was previously headed up by Cameron Grant of 3x1 Public Relations.

Lesley said: “I look forward to the challenges this role will present and working with other industry professionals to tackle issues and share knowledge to drive forward PR standards. I am passionate about raising the bar for our industry in Scotland and feel that this position with the PRCA will allow me to play a big part in this. It is a huge honor to be chosen as the chairman for the organisation.”

This new role coincides with Lesley's promotion this week from Deputy Managing Director of Weber Shandwick in Scotland to Vice President International Client Services. With over 17 years' experience in PR, Lesley has worked at Weber Shandwick for more than 10 years. While her experience covers client management, planning and crisis for public sector, B2C and B2B clients, her new role will focus on coordinating and delivering services to clients with an international reach, through Weber Shandwick's global network of offices.  Lesley is also chairman of the Edinburgh branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD).

Francis Ingham, Chief Executive of the PRCA, said: “Scotland has a great history of innovation and the PR community embodies that spirit of creativity. We are grateful to Cameron for his energetic leadership of the PRCA's Scotland group and delighted that Lesley has been elected to drive the group forward; her insight and experience will be a great asset.

“PR practitioners across the UK are facing similar challenges. Sharing ideas accelerates learning and helps those who are a part of the community to raise themselves above those who go it alone. This is a more competitive and professional industry than ever so we must keep evolving and we look forward to working with Lesley to achieve this.”

The PRCA currently has 6 regional groups beyond the Scotland group. These span the regions of the UK and seek to address concerns of PRCA members operating beyond the London. Other regional groups are: Midlands, South East and East Anglia, South-West and Wales, Yorkshire & Humberside, North-West England and Northern Ireland.
