PRCA continues support of Taylor Bennett Foundation Internship Scheme with PR Training
London, 19th January - The PRCA today announced that it is continuing its support of the Taylor Bennett Foundation in 2012. As part of its commitment to increasing diversity in the industry, the PRCA has so far donated £10,000 in training to the Taylor Bennett Foundation’s award-winning PR training and internship programme.
This builds on the PRCA’s continued drive to improve social mobility by widening accessibility to the PR industry. Last year the PRCA began donating PR training to the foundation, which encourages Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic graduates, who are underrepresented according to the PR Census, to pursue a career in public relations. The programme consists of a full-time, ten week, paid training course hosted by some of the top PR organisations in the country, including PRCA members Edelman, MHP, and Talk PR.
Francis Ingham, PRCA Chief Executive, said: “The PR industry’s future success is dependent on attracting the best and the brightest young talent. To do this we must increase accessibility and diversity.
“Every initiative in this direction is a positive step and we’re delighted to continue to support Taylor Bennett’s excellent work in this area”.
Sarah Stimson, Taylor Bennett Foundation Course Director, commented: "We are thrilled that the PRCA is supporting the Foundation's work in 2012. It is only through partnerships with industry organisations that we can continue to address the need for greater diversity in the PR and communications industry."

About the Taylor Bennett Foundation - www.taylorbennettfoundation.org
Since 2008, Taylor Bennett has been seeking directly to address the need for greater diversity in the communications & PR industry. We have done this through the delivery of a 10 week communications and personal development training programme for black and minority ethnic graduates, specifically designed to strengthen their skills and provide them with a practical understanding of what an entry level communications role would entail. We have been fortunate to work closely with universities, agencies, in-house communications teams and media owners, and together we are equipping talented individuals with the necessary skills to launch their communications careers. In November 2010 we were thrilled to be awarded the prestigious Lord Mayor's Dragon Award for our work tackling social exclusion.
Companies wishing to support the Foundation can do so by hosting an intern visit at your offices, participating as a guest speaker, making a donation, becoming a mentor or offering work experience. Companies interested in being involved should contact Sarah Stimson on 07739 426358 or sarah@taylorbennettfoundation.org
