PRCA response to PASC report
PRESS RELEASE
Responding to today's report from the House of Commons Public Administration Select Committee, "Lobbying: Access and influence in Whitehall", Francis Ingham, PRCA Director General, said:
“We simply do not accept that effective self-regulation is unfeasible, or that a new regulator is required. As the Committee recommends, PRCA members already declare their PA clients; list their employees; and make public any holders of public office.
"Rather than establish costly and cumbersome new structures, the best practice of PRCA members should be built upon. The Guiding Principles provide the basis for doing so.
"We welcome the Committee's endorsement of CMS. We will now review it to add -as the Committee suggests- a mandatory and challenging section on ethics. We will also consult with members on introducing a robust independent element to our disciplinary procedures."
