PRCA and WPR Announce Agreement
PRESS RELEASE
Effective 1 July, WPR will become a Sectoral Group of the PRCA, with its President, Gillian Waddell becoming a member of the PR Council. Under the arrangement, WPR will retain its operational independence, and will enjoy autonomy of action, while under the broader PRCA umbrella.
Announcing the partnership, Francis Ingham said:
'I am absolutely delighted to bring WPR into the broader PRCA family. We share the same ethos, the same drive -the same recognition that it's possible both to be professional and also to have fun.
‘Our relationship will be built on a firm commitment that WPR will be free -indeed encouraged- to maintain its own identity, independence and freedom of action. We have no intention of suffocating them in red tape, or dictating how they should operate.
‘WPR represents some of the most senior and most vibrant women in our industry, and we are thrilled to be able to announce this agreement with them. It is a marriage made, if not in Heaven, then certainly in some very elegant and stylish place!'
Gillian Waddell commented:
‘WPR is grateful to the CIPR for the support it has offered us over the last five years. Our decision to leave followed a long period of consultation and deliberation and was not taken lightly. We now look forward to an exciting future with the PRCA.'

About the PRCA
Who we are: Founded in 1969, the PRCA is the professional body that represents UK PR consultancies, in-house communications teams and PR freelancers. The PRCA promotes all aspects of public relations and internal communications work, helping teams and individuals maximise the value they deliver to clients and organisations.
What we do: The Association exists to raise standards in PR and communications, providing members with industry data, facilitating the sharing of communications best practice and creating networking opportunities.
How we do it and make a difference: All PRCA members are bound by a professional charter and codes of conduct, and benefit from exceptional training. The Association also works for the greater benefit of the industry, sharing best practice and lobbying on the industry's behalf e.g. fighting the NLA's digital licence.
Who we represent: The PRCA represents many of the major consultancies in the UK, and currently has 197 agency members from around the world including the majority of the top 100 UK consultancies. Having launched in-house membership last year it also represents over 30 in-house teams including many of Europe's leading corporations and UK public sector organisations.
