Bell Pottinger joins PRCA
PRESS RELEASE
London, 30 March - Bell Pottinger Public Affairs today announced that it is to join the PRCA. While a number of Chime companies are already members of the PRCA, this will be the first time that Bell Pottinger Public Affairs will have joined the membership.
Peter Bingle, chairman of Bell Pottinger Public Affairs, commented “The PRCA has shown real leadership while representing the public affairs industry over the last eighteen months. BPPA has always been a strong advocate for self-regulation and we will declare all our clients except on the rare occasions where the police consider it would endanger our employees, where it would compromise national security or where it would break the law. These are the same exemptions that apply to all PRCA members.”
David Gallagher, PRCA chairman, said “This is great news for the PRCA and the industry as a whole. Self-regulation of the public affairs industry would have been undermined by BPPA's absence. This is testament to the great work of the PRCA and shows how far the Association has evolved over the last two years.”
Francis Ingham, PRCA director general, commented “I take it as a vote of confidence in self-regulation, and indeed in the PRCA itself, that Tim and Peter have made this decision. Over the last two years the PRCA has grown agency membership by 50%. To bring Bell Pottinger Public Affairs, Edelman and Weber Shandwick into the PRCA in eighteen months is fantastic.”
