PR Leaders Give Verdict on CSR
PRESS RELEASE
Polled immediately after the Chancellor and his Shadow had debated the Comprehensive Spending Review, the PRCA PR Leaders' Panel gave the Government a clear presentational win. Asked who had presented their case best, 76% said the Government; only 14% the Opposition.
Respondents were more evenly split on the effect of the CSR. 20% disapproved of it, with just over a third approving, and an equal number saying they didn't yet understand its implications.
Asked how they thought it would affect their organisation, only 8% said it would be positive or very positive, with four times that number (34%) saying it would be negative or very negative. Fully 50% of PR Leaders said it was still too early to understand the CSR's implications.
Francis Ingham, PRCA chief executive commented: 'PR leaders are clear that the Government has won the presentational war. By an overwhelming margin, they think the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have been better at presenting their case than Labour.
‘But presentation isn't everything, and as yet there is no consensus on how the CSR will play out in practice.'
