New PRCA Chairman to broaden services and membership

London, 12 June 2008 - David Gallagher today took over from Richard Houghton as Chairman of the PRCA. David, CEO of Ketchum, has been vice-chairman of the Association for the last year. Richard Houghton, will take over the position of Vice-Chairman, previously held by David.

David said “I look forward to building on the great work that Richard Houghton has done as Chairman of the PRCA. Over the next two years, we will broaden membership and increase the range of benefits that are offered to our members.

“The UK is already an international hub for PR and by bringing foreign consultancies accredited with the Consultancy Management Standard into the membership we will be able to raise the standards of PR internationally and promote the reputation of the UK's vibrant PR sector.

“In the UK we will build on our existing services. We plan to increase the number of sectoral and industry group networks that we run and engage more closely with in-house teams.”

Francis Ingham, PRCA director General of the PRCA, said “David and I share a common vision of how the Public Relations Consultants Association will grow and bring greater value to its members. PR is going from strength to strength and the PRCA will help its members to take full advantage of the opportunities that this presents. It is going to be an exciting and dynamic few years.”
