London, 25 October 2011 – The PRCA today announced the launch of the PRCA Freelancer Network, a new service that will enable the professional body’s consultancy members to search a database of registered PR and Communications freelancers. The website portal will enable member consultancies to filter the professional body’s roster of freelance members by skillset, sectoral expertise and location.
There will be no cost to either the consultancy or the freelancer to use the service, nor does the service come with any obligation for the consultancy to retain any of the freelancers the search returns. All freelancers listed on the PRCA Freelancer Network are registered with the PRCA and so obliged to adhere to the Association’s Code of Conduct. The search portal will be located within the Find PR/PA section of the website.
The PRCA Freelancer Network works on the same principles as the established ‘Find a PR Agency’ (FAPRA) service that the PRCA runs matching client briefs with consultancies. The PRCA Freelancer Network does not include any advice from the PRCA team.
PRCA Chief Executive, Francis Ingham, commented “Freelancers are often the forgotten element in our industry. This new tool will make it easier for agencies to access specialist expertise and bridge peaks in demand, while driving work for freelancer members. The PRCA trends barometer highlighted that 33% of agencies expect the use of freelancers to increase this quarter and we expect the portal to be met with huge demand.”

About the PRCA
Who we are: Founded in 1969, the PRCA is the professional body that represents UK PR consultancies, in-house communications teams, PR freelancers and individuals. The PRCA promotes all aspects of public relations and internal communications work, helping teams and individuals maximise the value they deliver to clients and organisations.
What we do: The Association exists to raise standards in PR and communications, providing members with industry data, facilitating the sharing of communications best practice and creating networking opportunities.
How we do it and make a difference: All PRCA members are bound by a professional charter and codes of conduct, and benefit from exceptional training. The Association also works for the greater benefit of the industry, sharing best practice and lobbying on the industry's behalf e.g. fighting the NLA's digital licence.
Who we represent: The PRCA represents many of the major consultancies in the UK, and currently has more than 250 agency members from around the world including the majority of the top 100 UK consultancies. We also represent around 70 in-house communications teams from multinationals, UK charities and leading UK public sector organisations.
