PRCA positions PR consutlancies as 'enablers' at Press Gazette debate
PRESS RELESASE
The PRCA and its members were robustly represented at the Press Gazette debate Is a culture of 'churnalism' destroying real journalism? by Sally Costerton, CEO of Hill & Knowlton and Francis Ingham, PRCA Director General.
During the debate around Nick Davies' controversial book about the collapse of quality journalism, Flat Earth News, Sally Costerton, a member of the PRCA board of management, explained how the growth of transperancy and increased access enjoyed by the media was in no small part a result of the growing use of professional PR agencies and PROs.
Francis attacked the book, suggesting that for all its entertainment value it was not an accurate representation of the world that he worked in.
The debate is available to view on the Press Gazette website: www.pressgazette.co.uk/churnalism.
