PRCA endorses Cannes PR Lions

London, 23 October 2009

The PRCA lent its support to the Cannes PR Lions last night at an event hosted by Hill & Knowlton and attended by more than 60 members of the industry. The Cannes Lions festival introduced the PR Lions in 2009 to reflect the rising influence of PR within the marketing mix and the PRCA's endorsement is recognition of the potential value it can add to agencies.

The event “How to win gold at Cannes PR Lions” was organised to help agencies better understand how to maximise their chances of winning at the prestigious marketing awards. Lord Tim Bell, President of the 2009 PR Lions Jury and Chairman of Chime Communications and MaryLee Sachs, 2009 PR Lions Jury Member and US Chairman and Worldwide Director of Marketing Communications for Hill & Knowlton, showcased several of the winning entries and gave a unique insight into what it takes to win gold at the awards before taking questions from the floor.

Tips for success included relating results back to business performance and investing time and money into the entry. The judges were at pains to emphasise the importance of a well produced video to support each entry.

The PRCA will run a series of further events over the next twelve months to share best practice campaigns and improve the quality of award entries and PR campaigns.
