Women in PR group opens talks with PRCA
PRESS RELEASE
London, 10 June 2010 - The Women in PR (WPR) group has today opened discussions with the PRCA to discuss collaboration. Over the past few years the PRCA has become a far more modern organisation, striving to adapt quickly to deliver value to its members and growing vastly in the process. The Women in PR group is an integral part of the PR industry and the PRCA looks forward to exploring how the two can work together.
Francis Ingham, chief executive of the PRCA, said:
"I have great respect for WPR, and am absolutely thrilled that they have decided to explore how we can work together. I know that they are keen to maintain the characteristics that makes the group such a great success - fun, independence, flexibility. Those are very much PRCA values. We certainly have no desire to constrain them with red tape - to say how they spend their money, how they communicate with their members, how they run their events. That isn't our way.
We will now sit down and talk through the logistics of how we might make this relationship work to everyone's optimal advantage. But I can assure WPR members that they will find a warm welcome into the broader PRCA family."

About the PRCA
Who we are:
Founded in 1969, the PRCA is the professional body that represents UK PR consultancies, in-house communications teams and PR freelancers. The PRCA promotes all aspects of public relations and internal communications work, helping teams and individuals maximise the value they deliver to clients and organisations.
What we do:
The Association exists to raise standards in PR and communications, providing members with industry data, facilitating the sharing of communications best practice and creating networking opportunities.
How we do it and make a difference:
All PRCA members are bound by a professional charter and codes of conduct, and benefit from exceptional training. The Association also works for the greater benefit of the industry, sharing best practice and lobbying on the industry's behalf e.g. fighting the NLA's digital licence.
Who we represent:
The PRCA represents many of the major consultancies in the UK, and currently has 197 agency members from around the world including the majority of the top 100 UK consultancies. Having launched in-house membership last year it also represents 31 in-house teams including many of Europe's leading corporations and UK public sector organisations.
