What were you doing before your apprenticeship? Before my apprenticeship, I was juggling my English Language degree and working as a kitchen designer at Homebase.

What attracted you to the PR Apprenticeship? After finishing my A-levels, I was unsure what I wanted to do but knew I enjoyed writing which led me to my English Language degree. Although, whilst this helped to develop my writing, I knew I’d need further training to go into a PR role. This apprenticeship gave the perfect balance of working on the job and learning supported by the skills I had developed in my degree.

What was the highlight of your PR Apprenticeship? The highlight of my apprenticeship was finding out that I was awarded a distinction for my end-point assessment which led to me being offered a permanent position with Warner Bros.

What do you feel your apprenticeship helped you achieve? My apprenticeship really supported my on the job training as I was able to implement new techniques I learnt through the coursework into my role. Additionally, it has helped me to develop professional skills such as negotiating and selling into the media.

Top 3 skills a PR Apprentice needs:

  • Relationship-building skill
  • Communication skill
  • Imagination

I love PR because… it is such a vast industry with so many different interesting sectors.

What are your next steps? I have been offered a permanent role as a PR and Communications Assistant with Warner Bros. and I am excited to continue to work for a company that is at the height of film ingenuity.

CAMPAIGN SPOTLIGHT

Describe a campaign you were involved in and the activities you performed to bring it about:

Nine months into my apprenticeship we began planning the biggest expansion to the Studio Tour since opening, Gringotts Wizarding Bank. This involved the PR team creating an engaging publicity campaign to coincide with the launch including a press junket and VIP launch event. This allowed me to take responsibility for large parts of both events. One challenge included arranging a photo call on the morning of the press junket which involved working through the night to ensure six actors had full prosthetics to be transformed into Goblins ahead of the shoot.
