Meet the PRCA NextGen Scotland team

1. Tell us a little about your current role and career to date

I am currently a senior associate at Weber Shandwick Scotland where I work with a range of consumer and B2B clients across the food and drink, energy, hospitality and building industries. Day-to-day, I handle copywriting, media relations, influencer relations, CEO/executive profiling, project management and community relations. I previously worked at another agency in Glasgow where I worked across a number of consumer facing Scottish Government campaigns, as well as supporting on consumer clients in the food and drink sector.

2. Is there any aspect of your job you particularly enjoy?

It’s cliché but I genuinely do love the variety of different things I do each day and the knowledge I can gain from exposure to so many industries I probably otherwise wouldn’t be that aware of. More recently, I have also been managing and mentoring more junior members of the team which has been both a privilege and a great learning experience for me.

3. And any aspect you don't enjoy?

Spreadsheet formulas!

4. What career advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t hold yourself back or be apprehensive about sharing ideas when it comes to brainstorms or team meetings – even if it’s just a seed of an idea your contributions could end up forming part of something really great, so share them! And while you might not necessarily think it at the time, people will respect your opinions and thoughts when you share them, no matter what level you’re at.

5. Why did you decide to join the PRCA Scotland/NextGen Committee?

I’m only four years into my career in PR but I can see how much the industry is changing and seemingly wants to change, which is such an exciting thing to be part of, and being on the committee allows me to play a part in that at a Scotland-wide level. I’m very grateful for that too.

3. If you didn’t work in PR, what would be your dream job?

Definitely an actor.
