PRCA Hosts the South West’s First Leaders’ Supper

On 7th July, PR leaders from across the South West gathered at Exeter’s luxury country-house hotel, the Deer Park Hotel, for an intimate supper with one of Sky TV’s brightest stars, Lisa Knights.

An internationally regarded athlete in her own right (Commonwealth Games bronze medallist), Lisa was also responsible for Sky’s coverage of 3 Olympic Games (Sydney, Athens and London), one Commonwealth Games, and the Asian Tsunami.

Now embarking on a brand new venture at Bristol Sport, Lisa outlined the organisation’s ambitious plans for the Bristol-based, state of the art stadium, and sports and leisure facility, which will serve to support not only Bristol’s sporting professionals, but also a full-scale campaign (#MakingBristolProud) to get Bristolians of all ages and walks of life engaged in sport and its benefits.

Also delivering a fascinating speech around the legal consequences of Brexit, employment law and gender equality in the workplace was Katie Honeyfield, representing our official sponsor, Lewis Silkin. Sparking lively debate amongst the many influential women there about the consequences of maternity leave in PR, the talk delivered some interesting legal perspectives and referred to planned legal changes in the workplace over the next 12 months.

Richenda Oldham MPRCA, East Devon Council, said: “It was great to get out and meet some fellow PRs and the speakers were excellent. Met some really nice people and the food was delicious, too!!”
