Event Overview

We are all trapped in our little bubbles. PRs in agencies, journalists writing into a single editor all day long. As a result, we all have little snapshots of the bigger picture of tech journalism.

But there is another group who get a more comprehensive view. Freelancers find themselves constantly in motion between different publishers, juggling different agencies, different topics. They gain a perspective that most of us simply can’t access.

For this year’s PRCA Technology “Future of Tech Journalism” event, we will be talking with a handful of the top tech freelancers in the industry to find out:

  • How have they seen tech journalism change?
  • What can we learn from the freelance perspective and will it become more common?
  • Will more journalists take the freelance route and why/ why shouldn’t they?
  • What do we as PR people need to learn to work more effectively with freelancers?

Speakers:

David McClelland (TV presenter and writer for TechRadar, ComputerWeekly, and The Metro)

Marc Ambasna-Jones (The Guardian, IDG Connect, and The Register, among many others)

Lee Bell (Forbes, The Metro, Wired UK, Computer Shopper, and Alphr)

Verity Burns (What Hi-Fi, now freelance)

Tereza Pultarova (E&T, now freelance)
