Event Overview

Please join us for this PRCA and Women in PR panel event where we will be discussing the next steps for pay equality and disclosure and launching the new Communicating Gender Pay Gaps report. Please arrive at 18:00 for a 18:30 start.

As recorded in the PRCA PR and Communications Census 2018, the current gender pay gap in the industry is 21%, which is higher than the UK gender pay gap. The industry’s gender pay gap has increased since 2016, from 17.8%. The pay disparity between men and women is £11,364. On average women earn £42,588 and men earn £53,952. These statistics highlight the need for a collaborative, industry-led approach to tackle the problem.

Very few organisations in the PR and Communications industry are required to disclose their gender pay gap: importantly, this panel discussion aims to move the conversation forward by looking at how to disclosure – statutorily or voluntarily – a gender pay gap, the best way to communicate this, and the practical steps an organisation can take to close its gender pay gap.

The PRCA has always been committed to improving equality within the PR and communications industry and we are pleased to be launching this publication at this joint event with Women in PR. This document is designed to act as a guide for organisations and professionals in the industry looking to gain an understanding of how to proper tackle the issue.

Panellists include:

Bibi Hilton CMPRCA, Managing Director, Golin, and President, Women in PR

Chloe Chambraud, Gender Equality Director, Business in the Community

Emma Richardson MPRCA, Director - Worksphere, Lewis Silkin

Paul Cockerton MPRCA, Co-CEO, Dynamo

Sam Smethers, Chief Executive, Fawcett Society
