Event Overview

Ever feel that you are stuck between a rock and a hard place as a tech agency Account Director (AD)?

You are senior enough to run clients, teams and manage big budgets, but not quite senior enough to make the final decisions on things, or often as experienced as some of the clients you now have to manage.

It can feel like you have become ‘chief problem solver’ who’s basically got to be great at everything, supporting the people below you to progress, while also answering to the level above. But who is supporting you? How much time does that leave you to solve your own problems? The fact is the AD role is a big leap from the level below, with all the team management, new business targets and client responsibility that comes with it. Research indicates that the transition to AD isn’t one that is hugely supported by the industry, so the PRCA tech group has decided to dedicate some time to look at helping AD’s overcome the challenges of agency life as well as consider their progression opportunities.

Come and join some fellow tech agency ADs to discuss this topic further under Chatham House rules, offering your thoughts and opinions, and sharing best practice on what it means to be an AD today at a tech agency. We’ll then look to set up some dedicated sessions to support tech agency ADs throughout the year. This event will be moderated by Ken Deeks, Amber Group.

  • Managing demanding ‘traditional’ clients and ‘digital native’ teams
  • How to be the best manager you can, up and down
  • Keeping your specialism, while being a generalist
  • Approaching progression to senior roles in tech agencies  
  • Keeping results high in a changing media ecosystem
