Event Overview

2018 was tipped as the year of diversity and the latest census showed some movement in the right direction, yet it remains an issue within the sector.

This is more than a moral imperative ‐ the most successful organisations thrive on their diversity. A diverse workforce leads to increased creativity and innovation. As comms professionals, the benefits are obvious. We need to communicate to a variety of people with different backgrounds and without being diverse ourselves, how can we expect to engage with our clients?

This event is designed to help you take away bite size and practical tips on how to create a more diverse workforce and to ensure that your recruitment policy is inclusive and fair.

The session will be broken into two 30-minute workshops:

Workshop 1 will be chaired by Alexandra Lewington, Head of PR at specialist recruitment consultancy Reuben Sinclair, and will aim to provide advice for PR & Comms teams to ensure they are inclusive and fair when hiring.

The session will discuss potential barriers and opportunities to creating a diverse pool of candidates as well as offer practical recruitment methods that ensure hiring managers can access the best possible talent whilst ensuring diversity is always front of mind.

Workshop 2 will be chaired by Katie Johnston, co-chair of the Diversity Network and Senior Associate at leading employment law firm, Lewis Silkin.

The session will cover the dos and don’ts from a legal perspective and provide guidance on the how to navigate.

This event is worth 15 points in the PRCA CPD Programme.
