Event Overview

Over the course of the last year, so-called 'Fake News' has moved into the mainstream and brands are struggling to respond. But in a world where facts are disputed, how do corporations counter deliberate attack? And how can we all play a part in containing the spread of these new online threats?

In this PRCA Crisis Group event, we look at why many governments are freaking out about the threat of disinformation, what the digital platforms are doing to respond, and how communications specialists can use technology and behavioural science to fight back.

Speakers:

Iain Bundred MPRCA, former political advisor to the UK Government, now Managing Director of PR&Influence for Ogilvy EMEA

Chris Hamilton, Head of Digital for 10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office

We will cover:

  • The threat posed by disinformation to governments and corporations
  • How anti-vaxxing and climate sceptic campaigns are leading the way in fuelling echo chambers that play to natural biases in the general public
  • What steps the major social media platforms have been taking to try to call out disinformation
  • How any comms operation can respond to try to fight the fires and take back control of their narratives

Join us to hear from Iain Bundred, former political advisor to the UK Government, now Managing Director of PR&Influence for Ogilvy EMEA, as he looks at the challenges facing private and public sector organisations at this time of crisis for authoritative communications.

This event is worth 15 points in the PRCA CPD Programme.
