Summary:

Communications is a fast-moving and high-pressure environment which makes it rewarding and exciting. However, working in such an industry can also bring challenges too. In the UK today, 1 in 6 of us has a diagnosable mental illness with only half of PR professionals comfortable to talk to their manager. The latest research from the PRCA and PRWeek stated that 60% of respondents had suffered from or been diagnosed with mental ill health. Society is thankfully making progress in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and more specifically, mental ill health. This is positive momentum from a moral and ethical perspective but, it also makes business sense. Happy, well and engaged staff perform better so let’s think of mental wellness as a strategic enabler!
