Event Type: Group Event

Address: Moore Kingston Smith, Charlotte Building, 17 Gresse Street, London, W1T

Event Overview

Agency FDs’ involvement with IT dates back to the time when the accounts department was the first to be computerised. Nowadays, IT is vital to everyone in an agency but ultimately the responsibility for IT often still rests with the FD and key IT concerns for FDs are performance, security, and cost.

  • Performance - the speed at which agency personnel can work and the ease with which they can communicate with colleagues and clients is heavily influenced by the IT infrastructure that’s in place:- the network connectivity, communication systems, server and cloud platforms, software, and the PCs themselves.
  • Security - regulatory authorities and individual client contracts place compliance requirements on agencies and the processes and procedures they must follow to both limit the likelihood of a security breach or system outage and to recover from one if it occurs.
  • Cost - after employment and office accommodation, IT is one of the larger commercial costs for an agency so it’s sensible for even a newly established agency to develop and maintain an IT strategy which will support the agency in its aspirations while also meeting its commercial objectives.

A bit about Cubit Technology

Cubit Technology has been running agencies’ IT for 15 years and we’ve worked with the PRCA for the past 7 years. Here are some subjects that can arise in conversation with our customers’ and potential customers’ FDs and COOs:-

  • Shared folders in the cloud or on-premise server
  • Using only Macs, only Windows PCs, or a mix
  • Desktops and fixed seating plans or laptops and hot-desking
  • Thin client/virtual desktop or fat client
  • Fully staffed IT team or outsourced service

On Tuesday 10th December a PRCA FD forum will discuss the topics above and provide an opportunity for FDs and COOs to compare their future plans and past experiences with their peers in other agencies.

Speakers: Ralph Harrison, Account Manager, Cubit Technology and Chaired by Esther Carder, Media Partner, Moore Kingston Smith.

This event is worth 15 points in the PRCA CPD Programme.
