Event Overview

Year after year, via the PRCA UK Census and the ICCO World Report, industry leaders report that talent is their number-one issue – they also feedback that it’s hard to reach out beyond their well-established recruiting grounds.

PRCA announced its UK-wide Schools Outreach Programme in November 2019 which is aimed directly at addressing these linked issues.

PRCA’s 2019 Census showed that only one in ten practitioners are from ethnic minority backgrounds, or from families that received income support when they were children. Only 4% of those surveyed considered themselves to have a disability. The status quo is inexcusable and the industry must do more to reflect the society it seeks to engage.

PRCA has worked hard to broaden the talent pool over the past few years including through its successful Partner University programme and guest lecture series; through intern work to help young people to identify the very best employers; and through its management of the government’s PR apprenticeship programme.

This schools programme is the final piece of the jigsaw and will be sustained over the coming years, a new and central part of the PRCA’s work in representing the industry – and changing its composition for the better.

PRCA’s Head of Communications and Marketing, Koray Camgoz, will talk about the Schools Outreach Programme in more detail and explain how you can get involved.

You don’t have to be a PRCA member to volunteer. All you have to be is a practitioner with a passion for the future of our industry.
