Event Overview
The PRCA is pleased to host Billy McLaren, Scotland's first lobbying registrar at a roundtable event in Edinburgh this January prior to the register 'going live' later in 2017. The Lobbying (Scotland) Bill was passed last March and received Royal Assent in April 2016. It makes provision for a lobbying register, similar to that already in operation in Westminster, in which lobbyists communicating with Holyrood will have to register their interests. Key tasks for Mr McLaren and his team will include the procurement, development and testing of an IT system underpinning the register as well as guidance for users of the register. Also joining us will be Dougie Wands, clerk to the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee at the Scottish Parliament involved in establishing the Bill, who will assist with technical aspects of setting up the new register. This event offers an opportunity for members to influence the early guidance process, to share experiences of other regulatory regimes and to ensure the industry's voice is heard.
This event is worth 15 points in the PRCA CPD scheme.
