Event Overview

With a welcome from Magnus Llewellin, Scotland Editor of The Times on behalf of News UK, and hosted by Natalie Buxton MPRCA, Vice Chairman of the PRCA Scotland Group, there will be four sessions as follows:

Our first speaker will provide insights into the business and consumer trends for 2017 and beyond.

This will be followed by a panel discussion around 17 tips for successful communication in 2017, led by Founder Member of Campaign Collective and Joint Chairman of PRCA’s Charity and Not for Profit Group, Simon Francis CMPRCA. A copy of research results can be found here.

'Evolving how we Work' will then be presented by Moray Macdonald MPRCA, Managing Director of Weber Shandwick Scotland. We all know that how we do PR has changed massively over the last few years, and we can be sure that fast pace of evolution is going to continue. Moray will discuss how agencies and in-house departments are beginning to look at how they need to adapt their staff structures to meet an increasingly specialised requirement in delivering communications campaigns. 

A panel discussion around post-truth communications/’fake news’ will be adjudicated by John McLellan Director of the Scottish Newspaper Society and former Editor-in-chief of Scotsman Publications, who will steer the conversation. It will be focused on the impact fake news has on the PR industry, the quality of journalism, how it has come to be and whether it is a good or bad thing for PR/journalism.
