Event Overview

Event Overview:

Our brains are 31% more productive at positive than when we’re negative, stressed or even plain old neutral says the enlightening Harvard psychologist, Shawn Achor.

It is a privilege and responsibility in equal measure to be a line manager, to be able to influence an individual’s workplace engagement and performance and set them on course for a successful career trajectory. Effective people management, direct reports, colleagues on account teams, even upward management can literally transform outcomes and bottom lines alike.

Attendees will:

  • Start with themselves. Examine who they are today as people managers and what they currently bring to these pivotal relationships
  • Learn how to self-manage and iterate tactics to get the best out of team members
  • Explore prominent models of people management to hone their own authentic style
  • Understand how to  get the best from the annual review cycle and other ‘official’ touchpoints
  • Appreciate the importance of regular check-ins and continuous coaching
  • Spend time considering management of difficult conversations and optimising feedback
  • Be given tonnes of time to reflect, discuss, practice and leave empowered and enlightened!

Who Should Attend:

Anyone who has risen up through the ranks on their technical abilities but finds themselves managing others without having been formally trained to do so. Equally relevant to those ripe for a refresher or experiencing particular roadblocks in these unique times.

Attendees will learn to:

  • Set and refresh SMART goals
  • Prepare for performance reviews
  • Actively listen and observe for greater understanding
  • Design, give (and receive) feedback
  • Manage different personality types
  • Set and protect effective boundaries
  • Consider wellbeing and mental health
