As a professional body that represents many small businesses, we recognise how crucial it is for such organisations to get paid promptly. With PRCA research revealing that a quarter of PR and communications agencies report that clients take over 30 days to pay them, we launched the #30days campaign, calling on client organisations to pay their agencies within 30 days and sign up to the Government’s Prompt Payment Code.
With the support of over 51 organisations we also circulated a letter to the media calling for the end of unethical payment terms in the PR industry which threatens the survival of smaller companies who cannot sustain irregular cash flows.
Alongside our work on prompt payment, the PRCA also supported the measures in the Enterprise Act such as the proposal to establish a Small Business Commissioner to advise small businesses on disputes with larger organisations. We will continue to follow the measures introduced by the Enterprise Act and make sure they work for our members.
