Event Overview

Are you feeling a little stressed, overloaded, or simply feeling like you need a break?

You’re not alone. CareerCast annual rankings in 2017 ranked people working in communications on both sides of the fence – news reporters (#6) and PR professionals (#8) – in the top 10 Most Stressful Jobs in the world. Research conducted by PRCA in partnership with PRWeek also revealed 59% of PR and communications practitioners had suffered from mental ill health.

The communications industry is one of the most fast-moving, challenging, dynamic, and exciting to be working in. Mental wellbeing is critical to the health of our people and the sustainability of our industry.

Often, we go through our working day on auto-pilot, reacting to urgent emails that come through and doing our best to meet demanding clients and deadlines. Rarely do we stop to pay attention to what is going on around us.

Mindfulness helps us to see clearly what is going on in our lives. For some, the discovery and experience of knowing how to pause, stop and pay attention can be very freeing. It is important to build positive individual and team mental health to ensure the continued success of our people and our businesses.

Join our workshop, to hear practical tips from leading mental health advocates and industry experts about how you can manage workplace wellbeing, avoid burnout, support yourself, and your teams to have positive mental health and juggle workloads during those crunch points.

Our special guest speakers include:

  • Emma Mamo, Head of Workplace Wellbeing, MIND

Emma is Head of Workplace Wellbeing at Mind. Emma joined Mind in 2007 and, since 2010, has led Mind’s campaigning for mentally healthy workplaces - playing a pivotal role in thought leadership to position mental health in the workplace as a key priority for employers and Government.

Emma has led culture change through engagement with employers, health and safety professionals, HR audiences and Government on mental health in the workplace and back-to-work support for people with mental health problems. She also supports networks of employers and stakeholders to share best practice and develop business-to-business peer support. Emma has worked in the disability sector since 2005 and previously worked for Mencap, the learning disability charity.
